Great application. I’ve been using it for a few years. Its better than original KeePass – as it uses only true open source tools and is truly cross platform!

Are you working on version 2.0? I’m sure many many users are hoping for an update. Thank you for your good work and I hope my message, and those of others, will encourage you to keep working on the project.

I see the description for download of 0.4.3 i.e. that it is for mac osx 10/4-6. I have 10.7 (Lion). Where do I get a download so I can keep using keepassx which I have used with leopard and snow leopard, and want to continue. Thanks

  3. Mike says:

    Frank,
Have you tried the 0.4.3 with Lion? My keepass 0.4.3 works just fine on Lion.

  4. sam says:

I googled autotype and found this.
    KeePassX_0.4.3_OS_X_AutoType_svn

but auto type works on snow leopard but not on lion …To bad hope a fix will come.

Hi. I started testing this not too long ago and today I just noticed that sorting doesn’t work on 0.4.3. I have been using it under Ubuntu and now the Zorin distro which is based on Ubuntu/Debian. I just thought I let you know because I keep thinking I didn’t back things up when I can’t find the one I’m looking for and then realized that sorting didn’t work so I had to manually go down the list.

Before using Keepassx, I had used many password creator softwares; but those were not so secured and user-friendly as Keepassx. Thanks to all the people behind it. I have recommended this to many people who depend on many passwords.

    Hi Guys,

I’ve recently upgraded to Lion. Since the OS upgrade the KeePassX window no longer comes up. The program is running, but there is no way I can actually bring the window to the foreground, it’s as if the OS is not registering that it exists. When I try show all windows, no window appears. Is anyone else experiencing problems under Lion?

I used the install from the website if that helps.

    Regards,
    – RG

Find drag and drop to be buggy does strange things
also had it crash a number of times after running sort after drag dropping

But apart from that this rocks, can use it in linux and then when i reboot into windoze

    keep up the great work

    +1
Keepassx is a great way to keep up with all your passwords. I use two databases, one for private passwords and one for work. Being a utility SCADA admin requires me to have and remember numerous passwords. I use Keepassx in both Windoz and Linux. Of course, I prefer Linux doesn’t everyone and the auto-type feature.

I use Dropbox (another free application) to store the encrypted databases out in the cloud and they are synced automatically whenever I make any changes.

Keepassx is great I wonder how I ever got by without it.

I just downloaded Keypass and put in several of my password and now canot find them.

I downloaded KeePassX (universal) for my OS 10.4.11. Yes, I still use it. Worked fine … for a bit. One day, I couldn’t log onto my database. Incorrect hash tags or corrupted file were the reasons.

A friend said to use a newer version of KeePass for Mac OSX. Tried downloading KeePass2.18 for Mac + the MonoFrameworkMRE, since the website said KeePass doesn’t work without it. KeePass2.18 wouldn’t boot up. Didn’t work. So, I’m rebuilding a new database using my original version of KeePassX. Any other solutions? Would like to grab my old DB on Dropox if possible. Any suggestions there?

Like the 2.0 alpha version. Keep on going! Store the database on Dropbox: is good for sync.

Great, dependable and safe product. I always use it and recommended to many friends.

I still would like to see an update that has the following improvements:

    – Autofocus on search field after loading
    – Locking itself after n minutes when a detail window is open (current security flaw)

    Thanks for listening.

  16. Ono says:

Hi, for some reason keepassx doesn’t correctly sort by date. Entries with 2013 appear at the top (or bottom) then entries for 2012 and then again entries for 2013, no matter which direction you use.

Hopefully this is fixed in the new version.

    Hi.

KeePassX 0.4.3 will not open databases saved by KeePass Droid 1.99.1.

I updated my Android (Nexus 7 and HTC Phone) KeePass Droid to v1.99.1, edited my database and saved it back to my Mac (as I’ve done loads of times before). Now Mac OS KeePassX 0.4.3 doesn’t open the database.

This is quite devastating for the way I use KeePass.

Is there a better place than here to report a bug?

On the whole, tho, most excellent app. I’m very grateful.

Either way, web sites still operate, and the ones still download.
When you’re making a juice from dark, leafy greens, try adding in
a little cucumber. That would make a larger part with the MILLIONS of users downloading torrents every day.

  19. Phil Cooper says:

I installed KeePassX 0.4.3 on Ubuntu 10.04 an hour ago and it didn’t work right out of the box. I created a single entry, saved the database file, quit KeePassX, and restarted it. It couldn’t read the file it had just created.

I’m amazed that this malfunctioning piece of software has been around so long, and is still at the same release that it was over 5 years ago. Forget about it. I’ll continue keeping my passwords in a LibreOffice spreadsheet file — at least LibreOffice can open its own files.
