KeePassX

0.2.2 Leopard Hotfix

Many people reported that the current version of KeePassX (0.2.2) crashes on the new version of MacOS X 10.5 alias Leopard. This problem is now fixed and you can find a updated build for Leopard in our download section.

Direct Download Links:
KeePassX 0.2.2 for MacOS X 10.4 and 10.5 (Intel x86 only) 4.6 MB
KeePassX 0.2.2 for MacOS X 10.4 and 10.5 (Universal Binary: Intel x86 and PowerPC) 8.7 MB

This hotfix does have a minor visual side effect: Some buttons are displayed as tool buttons even though they are dialog buttons. This is just a problem of 0.2.2. Version 0.2.3 will show the correct buttons and remove some other GUI issues on MacOS X as well.

Additionally to the MacOS X 10.5 support a fix for a very annoying bug in 0.2.2 was backported from the 0.2.3 branch:
Files which do not have an extension get no longer greyed-out in the file dialog and the correct extension (.kdb) gets now automatically appended to the filenames of new databases.

UPDATE:
Added an universal binary bundle, the first file was x86 only even though the link title said otherwise.

UPDATE II:
The downloads are not longer available. Please use the new versions of KeePassX instead, which are now fully Leopard compatible.

Thanks! Like Bill I freaked out when keepass would not open. During the leopard install I could not remember my apple account password, I don’t know what I would do without keepassX. Its the only password program I will trust. I will not use a non opensource password manager.

Thank you so much for this hotfix! Never ever would I store secret information with another tool!

  4. Thanks a lot for updating keepassx. I use it on an almost daily basis. I’d actually like to donate a few dollars for your trouble but I don’t see a place to do so.

If everyone donates a very affordable amount (like say $3) – updates might be more worth your while.

Love KeepassX. I work on a pc used to own a home pc which dies so I just bought my first Mac and was so relieved to find out that Keepass would work across platforms.
I’m still noticing the alphabetical issue. Always resets the column to descending, Z to A.

  12. THANK YOU! KeypassX Rocks… Just downloaded the new fix for Leopard and it worked perfectly. Keep up the good work.

I have been using keypass for a year now on OS X it has always crashed on me when I make new groups and more entries. It seems like when it has to think it just tanks. I am running leopard now and have installed the hotfix!

Love the software just bothersome when trying to organize!

  16. Greg says:

I cannot keep keypassx running on OSX 10.5.2. It crashes after I do a few things, nearly anything. I have tried both of the above (universal and Intel only). I have a brand new intel MBP

  17. Wessel says:

Are there any plans to make a Leopard 0.3.3 version ? The current OSX Version does not show any network shares or other usefull drives like this 2.2 version does.

I found the KeePassx version 0.3.1 for the Mac and installed it over my previous version. Now I have no information in the database. I cannot seem to find the database file, which I assume is called “database.kdb” I even tried creating a new database by entering a group and key, but there seems to be no kdb file anywhere.

What am I missing? Did I really lose my previous database?

  19. Pito says:

same issue as #9 and #36, cannot add KeePassX to spaces list. I want it to have it on all spaces. No luck :/

    Otherwise great app

    thanx a lot
