KeePassX

KeePassX 2.0 Beta 2 released

Due to some important bugfixes we are releasing another beta.
Hopefully this will be the last before the final release.

The most important changes are:

  • Fix crash when locking with search UI open [#309]
  • Fix file locking on Mac OS X [#327]
  • Set default extension when saving a database [#79, #308]

Please test the new version and report any issues at https://www.keepassx.org/dev/.

You can also checkout the latest source code from our git repository at https://github.com/keepassx/keepassx.

Beware: this is a beta release. While I believe the code base is already rather stable make sure to regularly backup your database.

Been waiting for an update for a while…. will give it a work out since I haven’t found anything as nice as KeyPassX. Thx for the good work.

  2. Marcus says:

Will there also be a portable version for KeePassX 2.0?

twofish cipher please. i actually don’t know anybody who has read about how rijndael (aes) was selected and chose to use it instead of twofish. I want to back up my password database to a cloud account, but i’m too afraid to do that with an aes encrypted file.

Hey, I haven’t seen an update in a bit either. I’m not complaining, but I did want to make sure you knew your work was appreciated. Because I know sometimes it’s tough to know.

I really like KeePassX and have been using it for years. I was glad to see it was getting an overhaul w/ version 2, and I try to keep up w/ changes when you push them to the github repo.

So anyway, thanks for continuing to work on KeePassX

I used keepassx for some time, but moved to keepass v2 very recently. Keepassx v2 built without any problem on Debian Jessie. So far it handles my keepass v2 database without any problem. Look very good. Thank you!

Glad to know there is some news in this really good soft !

The feature ‘reload on db change’ will be integrated in keepassX ? It’s a killer feature !

    Loving 2.0 so far!

    One thing i noticed.
When opening an attachement (attachement > doubleclick to open) it doesn’t show.
    * Opening a picture it tells me it is already being edited in another program
    * Opening a txt file it telss me nothing and just shows a blank file

If the file is saved to i.e. desktop, the file opens normally.

    (within keepass this works fine)

    You made my day.

  15. Mike says:

Awesome release, is a chance to get KeePassHttp working with this release?

  16. James Smith says:

    Good Work for new features.

But in keepassx, I can simply double click an entry to copy a password. I cann’t get used to keepassx2.0 Beta which removed that handy function.

could be better if I can adjust font size for some high resolution devices.

  17. Lennart says:

Thanks for your good work! Any chance of incorporating the KeePassHttp code from https://github.com/Ivan0xFF/keepassx or https://github.com/jdachtera/keepassx.git into the main trunk? It’s a sorely missed feature.

  18. Clemens says:

I search a keepassX for windows phone 8/10. Exists a seperate API to read/ a keepassX database whitout UI. that would be cool…

  19. Anon says:

    Hello,

This is my first time using any of these betas. I tried opening the database I had from using KeePassX 0.4.3, but the beta says that the database cannot be opened because it is not a KeePass database. Any idea as to why this is happening? Thank you.

  20. Karsten says:

    Great password manager.

I’m using KeePassX since serval years and a few weeks ago I’m switched from KeePassX 0.4.3 to 2.0 Beta 2 and it’s working without problems (but I’m make a backup of my “.kdbx”-file always before I’m opening the database with the beta 2).

I’m using this beta since several weeks without problems.

    @Anon
You have to import your old datebase-file (.kdb) into the new database-file (.kdbx). KeePassX 2 can only read the new database-file!!!

You should open KeePassX 2.0 Beta 2 -> Database -> Import Database from KeePass 1
