Wonderful application. I tried it on WinXP and works great. I am downloading now to try on my Mac. Hopefully it’s as good as Win32 version.

This program has done nothing but get better every release. I use it on Mac OS X every day and the physical appearance no long bothers me. You guys have done a great job to make the program as efficient and native as possible.

    Does it support KeePass 2.x??

  14. Ricky - 8. April 2009

Any idea when it will be updated in apt/synaptic? I’m on Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 beta and am experiencing graphics bugs in the current version, so I’d like to upgrade but I much prefer the package manager to manually installing.

Please find a way to contact them and get them to update it!
    Thanks!
    Ricky

Nevermind, sorry, I found the repository on the downloads page :)
I actually hadn’t checked the page, since I just expected a tar.gz archive or something.

Thank you very much. KeePass (and KeePassX) is the best password manager ever seen!

KeepassX window on MacOS is not resizable anymore. You cannot drag on to bottom right corner and resize the window. Is there any way to resize it?

  20. bdmayes - 18. April 2009

It resizes just fine on all of my OS X machines (I have 3 of them). If anyone else has this problem please let us know.

  21. DK - 18. April 2009

I am using this on my iMac OS X 10.5.6. The latest version 0.4.0 does not have window resizing icon on the bottom right corner anymore. You cannot drag that bottom right corner and resize it anymore. I can only either maximize using the (+) on title bar or minimize (-), but cannot resize the KeePassX window. Though it seems like only main KeePassX window cannot be resized. All the dialog boxes for entering / editing the password entries have that resizing icon at the bottom right corner. But since I mostly use it for accessing the records and not editing, by not having an option to resize main window is little bit unintuitive. This is the only reason I rolled back to my previous version (3.3). I hope this will get fixed in future versions.

I have to say, its a wonderful utility – especially because it is platform independent, I cannot imagine living without it. Mac has keychain, which is great but unfortunately I still have to use PC at my office ;(. And thats where KeePassX comes to rescue me. Many THANKS for creating this great utility.

  22. Emanuele - 20. April 2009

I am using KeepassX on OSX 10.5.6, the icon for resizing the window placed on the bottom right corner is visible and the resize works fine. Random bug then?
    Bye,
    Emanuele

  23. bdmayes - 21. April 2009

The inability to resize on OS X isn’t going to be a random bug. It must have a cause and it is likely a configuration issue of some sort. The problem usually lies with either a configuration issue in KeePassX or a configuration issue in OS X itself. More than likely the users that experience this have a particular option enabled (that we do not) or vice-versa.

I will have to investigate this further. If someone having this issue could create a new bug report on our sourceforge page I would appreciate it.

  24. Dot2Kode - 24. April 2009

I use it on Ubuntu ‘Jaunty’ but I have it on a USB stick I take to class to load up on the MS computers…I have never had any problems with it and I have been using it for a few month’s…love it…Thanks for creating such a kick ass program!! Keep it up!! :D

  25. mister peel - 29. April 2009

Splendid program and the only cross-platform application I use on a daily basis on Ubuntu, MacOS and Windows. Keep up the good work!

  26. Happy Camper - 30. April 2009

Thanks again, definitely makes my lif easier :-)

  27. Max - 4. May 2009

Thanks for your application – very handy to use under Linux and Windows. I use it in my daily work and it really helps to keep in order dozens of accounts and other info.
Still, there’s one drawback: inability to use Hot Keys. I.e. I cannot open KeePassX window without mouse. For people that got used to use only keyboard (without mouse) this really slows down working process.
It would be great if you considered adding such a feature like “Open KeePassX window by Hot Keys” to your application.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for this wonderful application. I’m using XP and Mac OS X and it would be great to make *.kdbx support. That way i don’t need to export it from XP to use it on Mac, and the Customized icons will be in the database.

  30. miki - 10. May 2009

    thank you

  31. Benno - 11. May 2009

Thanks for this software. I have been using it since Windows XP. I switched to Mac 4 years ago, and found this software, which I use and depend on since then.

  32. Frieder - 14. May 2009

Thank you very much for this wonderful piece software. I use KeePassX since 3 years and and you still develop and support the program! Most of the single maintainer open source software is dead after some years, but KeePassX is still alive and _the best_ password manager for Linux.

  33. Sammy - 5. June 2009

Than you very much for this wonderful piece of software. I can’t live without it.

  34. Mike - 9. June 2009

This wonderful program help me to switch now finally full to Linux because it let me use all me passwords cross-platform.
Also works with portable Keepass and same database so never have to miss my passwords anywhere.

    Keep it up ;-)

  35. inconspicuous - 9. June 2009

Will there be support for the new KeePass 2.0+ .kbdx files anytime soon?

  36. tg - 15. June 2009

    Very good password manager.

  37. bag - 30. June 2009

Another request about KeePass v2.x compatability.

This program works wonders. I use it daily between work (Windows) and home (Linux). At the moment, I keep the data on a USB key. However, I’d like to upgrade to Keepass v2 because of the ability to keep separate databases synchronised (either between physical locations or via a plug-in that allows synchronisation to an online resourse). However, v2.x uses a new database structure.

I’d like to know if the current version of KeePassX can read/write/use the newer database structure of the KeePass v2.x. Any clarifications or notification about a suspected timeline to acheive this would be most appreciated.

    Thanks.

  38. so_cruel - 18. July 2009

Best application ever, but that miss on iphone :(

  39. Alberto - 21. July 2009

very useful application, the best I’ve tried

  40. maik - 14. August 2009

    hi,

how can i use the new keepass 2.0.8 database file (*.kdbx). Is there any new status?

  41. LS - 18. August 2009

What a great application! I’ve been using it daily for a year or more on OS X. It is one of the handiest utilities I’ve ever downloaded.

  42. ivan - 20. August 2009

Who wants to use .kbdx db in KeePassX: Run KeePass _2_ (under Windows), go to File → Export… → select «KeePass KBD (1.x)». You’ll get .kbd file, which may be opened in KeePassX.

  43. Jeff - 21. August 2009

    OSX RESIZE ISSUE Solution:

In OSX, the KeePassX resize handle won’t appear in the bottom right corner if you have the Status Bar turned off. Go to View make sure Status Bar is checked. Once it is, the resize handle will appear and will work normally.

  44. uri - 31. August 2009

Es genial que sigan adelante con esta gran aplicación. no tengo quejas en xp o mac os x; felicidades.

  45. alex - 4. September 2009

    hi

i use keepass since 5 or more years, last 3 years on linux. (keepassx)
its a great program, many more people should use it.
i often recommend it to other people.

    :-)

  46. geronimo - 10. September 2009

This small wonderfull application is very useful, I’m really kind of poweruser. There’s only one thing I miss (or I don’t know how to enable it):

If I click on the small icon in Apple’s menu bar then I would like to have that KeyPassX is shown on top of all other windows.

I often face the situation that KeyPassX is burried under a stack of other application windows and I have to use CMD+TAB to put it into foreground (alternatively, I can click on the icon in the Dock).

  47. Nugar - 12. September 2009

Another request for kdbx compatibility. I use Ubuntu exclusively and would like the benefits of the KeePass 2.x version.

But quite frankly, running it via Mono doesn’t work well, so I’d prefer to use KeePassX if possible with the same option.

Thank you guys for making this available!

  48. Andreas - 12. September 2009

Wonderful application! Very nice that the file format is compatible with the Windows version of KeePass. Thanks for keeping up development. I use in on Mac OS X Leopard (now Snow Leopard).

  49. Jim Lippard - 12. September 2009

Still seeing crashes on first open in Snow Leopard (both 10.6 and 10.6.1). Any workaround?

  50. Anonymous - 15. September 2009

what about *.kbdx databases for the Mac OS

  51. Bryan - 19. September 2009

Just another beg for kdbx support. I love KeePassX, but I use both PC and Mac. Because I’ve already converted my PC to .kdbx, I can’t even use KeePassX anymore!

  52. SniperBeamer - 19. September 2009

Why are you so crazy about KeePass 2?
Nobody forces you to switch from version 1 to 2.

Afaik KeePass 2 can export you database to *.kdb

  53. Rob - 23. September 2009

Confirming that I too am getting the constant crash on 10.6.1 on first execution. If “reopened” it works. But is 100% guaranteed to crash the next time I use it. Rinse, repeat.
