Problem with autotype of email address as username

Problem with autotype of email address as username

Postby mbeenham » 07 Mar 2012, 16:36

KeePassX 0.4.3 is installed and works fine under Ubuntu 10.10 except that on those accounts where the usename is an email address autotype inserts " instead of @ for the username.
Copy to clipboard from KeePassX and paste into web page works fine.
I found a couple of posts on the forum that related to this but with no solution.
The system is configured for my UK keyboard and I don't have a problem with "@" in any other application. Is this some kind of locale issue?
I'd appreciate a steer as I've drawn a blank so far.
Thanks.

I've been experiencing the same issue. It appears that for some reason, Ubuntu (in my case) is failing to set the xkeyboard map correctly. This can be quickly remedied by opeinging a terminal and executing the following command:

Code: Select all
setxkbmap gb

I *think* it may be neccissary to execute the above command on each session, in which case add the following command to your startup applications list:

Code: Select all
bash -c "setxkbmap gb"

I hope this helps. You should also find a number of nifty character accessible via the Alt Gr (and Alt Gr + Shift) modifier(s) that weren't available before hand (Open OnBoard and press the onscreen Alt Gr (or Alt Gr + Shift) key(s) to see a full list.)

Hi,
Same problem here.

Every time I try an auto type with an email address, the @ symbol is turned into |

The @ symbol on my keyboard is used with Alt-Gr 0
The | symbol is used with Alt Gr 6

I've tried to reconfigure my locale. I use Debian (Wheezy 7.0), and done the following :
# dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration (as instructed at http://wiki.debian.org/Keyboard).

My /etc/default/keyboard file contains the following:
XKBMODEL="microsoft4000"
XKBLAYOUT="fr"
XKBVARIANT=""
XKBOPTIONS="terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"

I'm using KDE desktop, and configurated via the GUI ("System settings > Input devices > keyboard"). The layout configured are :
fr, variant latin-9 only
fr, bepo (dvorak)
fr (no variant)

I've been trying to change the variants of the keyboard with the GIU, no difference.

I've also changed the language settings in KeepassX, following the advice to "switch to English US keyboard in KeePassX" (see this thread viewtopic.php?t=3360&p=5993), but the only option I've seen is the "language" option (tried english, french, and "system locale").

I would like to keep my french layout (obviously), is there any other solution I could try ?

Thanks in advance.
