"Key is wrong or the file is damaged" in Ubuntu 10

Postby kailash » 10 Oct 2010, 10:53

I have upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 from Ubuntu 8.04 and when I have tried to open my kdb database the program shows the next message:

"Key is wrong or the file is damaged"

To solve this problem, I have tried to install other versions of keepassx with same results. My last test have been install Ubuntu 8.04 on a VirtualBox, install keepassx from repositories and I have had the same result.

I'm very very worried for this problem because all my passwords are in these database  .

Any idea, please?

There are only two possibilities:

1) The file is damaged and unusable. Solution: use a backup copy from before it became damaged. You do backup your database file don't you? And not just backing up by overwriting the same backup so that a damaged file will overwrite a good one. If you don't have a backup you are screwed.

2) You are using the wrong password. You think you are using the correct password but you are not. Solution: use the correct password.
